Diamond cutting, also referred to as machined-face rims, is a state-of-the-art process that gives rims a distinctive two-tone look, combining a polished aluminum surface with a painted interior. This effect is achieved by painting the entire rim first, then carefully removing a thin layer from the surface to expose the shiny metal underneath.
When diamond-cut rims sustain damage such as curb rash, corrosion, or scratches, restoration is often necessary. Our skilled technicians employ a cutting-edge refurbishing technique to bring your diamond-cut rims back to a like-new condition.
Restore your diamond-cut rims with confidence at The Rim Guy, where our expert team ensures impeccable results. We begin by removing the old layers of paint and lacquer to uncover a clean, smooth surface, which allows us to address any damage with specialized techniques to bring your wheel back to its original state.
Next, we apply a durable paint powder coat and cure it in the oven, ensuring that your chosen color remains vibrant and long-lasting. A professional lathe is then used to cut a thin layer off the rim’s surface, giving it a sophisticated, shiny metallic finish. Finally, we add a clear coat and bake it once more to achieve a high-gloss polish and provide additional protection.
The cost of your wheel service can vary based on factors such as wheel size, the services required, and the extent of the damage. To ensure you are fully informed of the total cost before scheduling an appointment, we provide an estimated rate in advance, even before you visit our repair shop. Had an appointment with a rep. from the rim guy very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable, he repaired my rim in less than an hour, look like when I picked up the car from the dealership. I would not hesitate to recommend their service, Thanks Guys. BarryPosted on Google John UranickTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fast service excellent work...recommend!!Posted on Google Carter LahaieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience receiving service from The Rim Guy. Was able to get everything sorted remotely by texting. To dive into detail I had looked up a rim repair shop on google and was hooked to the idea of a mobile repair from The Rim Guy. I went into there website and filled out a contact form with my contact info, description and a photo of the damage of the rim. I was quickly texted back with a quote price of $195-$225 for the crack on the inner lip of my rim and working out a location that they would send out a service tech out to within the GTA (further locations outside for an additional cost). What worked best is me being out at work and them being able to work for me without my presence needed. Was scheduled in the next day for 12-2pm and was told I would receive a text / call from the service tech an hour in advance. Sure enough next day comes and I receive a text from a guy named “Nathan” at 11am confirming the details and location (great timing, much appreciated) by 11:39 Nathan had already begun working and had notified me of more existing damage (another crack) and had provided photos the show what he has seen and called me to confirm fixing both, which I happily accepted to. At 12:33pm Nathan had fully completed the work needed. He had taken off the rubber from the rim, cleaned and inspected the damage, notified me of the damage, drilled the cracks to stop further cracking, welded, resurfaced the inside lip, remounted the tire, inspected for leaks, and rebalanced the rim all within a very timely manner. Now for anyone else receiving welded rim crack service looking at the photos, the rim not looking the prettiest is the least of concern as the additional weld on top is needed for additional structural support due to the previous damage just to note. Now that the work is complete, I had received a online invoice for the repair with a total of $390 + GST/HST. Overall very satisfied with the work done today by Nathan, and the ease of contact and trusted work from The Rim Guy. Thanks guys!Posted on Google Serguei KourokhtineTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service right at my driveway. Contacted them about a possible bent rim. They were quick to respond and book an appointment. The pricing seemed reasonable to me for a mobile service. Nick came out and was friendly and helpful. I would definitely book them again and recommend them to others.Posted on Google Mike InglisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service. Totally impressed with the professionalism and courtesy. I hope to never crack a rim again, but if I do, I will be calling these guys again for sure!Posted on Google Annessa DoneganTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Diamond Cut involves using a specialized lathe to shave a fine layer off the surface of an alloy wheel, creating a smooth and polished finish with precise lines. Unlike regular alloy wheel repair, which typically involves painting or powder coating, Diamond Cut provides a mirror-like finish that enhances the appearance of the wheels, giving them a premium, high-gloss look.
The process usually takes 2 to 3 hours per wheel, depending on the condition and complexity of the job. For full sets, it may take up to a day or two. If you opt for our pick-up and drop-off service, we’ll provide you with a timeline for when you can expect your vehicle to be returned with its newly finished wheels.
Not all alloy wheels are suitable for Diamond Cut services. Wheels must have a smooth and polished face with no deep damage or corrosion. If the wheel has undergone multiple Diamond Cut treatments, it may have too little material left for further cutting. Our technicians will inspect your wheels and advise you on whether they are a good candidate for the Diamond Cut process.
Mobile Alloy Rim Repair specializes in the repair of curb rash, scuffs, and scratches, plus repainting and refinishing rims in the GTA Area.
